About Us

OUR STORY

An idea that started over coffee

Equisera was founded in 2022, originally operating as Wild Hydrogen, following a conversation between Mark and James at their local coffee spot. Both shared a growing unease about the pace of climate action and a belief that engineering could deliver solutions that were practical and scalable. The initial ambition was clear, to create carbon-negative hydrogen. Mark had been developing the core concept behind what would become the Rising Pressure Reformer (RiPR), and together they set out to turn that idea into a company.

Through focused prototyping and testing, the technology was proven and protected. Working with Cranfield University, the team identified a broader opportunity, tuning RiPR to produce biomethane alongside hydrogen, while also generating biochar and capturing carbon dioxide. What began as a single solution evolved into a flexible, circular energy system.

Over the next three years, RiPR was advanced to Technology Readiness Level 6 using real biogenic feedstocks. In February 2026, Wild Hydrogen became Equisera, reflecting a shift towards a system-led approach to decarbonisation.

Today, Equisera is advancing its pilot plant and preparing for commercial deployment, demonstrating that a fossil-competitive, negative-emissions energy pathway is already being built.
