Seed 4 Raise

Our Seed 4 raise, launched in Spring 2026 will secure up to £1m to fund the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for our first commercial RiPR plant – the bridge between our TRL6 demonstrator and a deployable, finance-ready facility. The funds will complete the full engineering definition of the plant, finalise equipment specifications and supplier selection, and establish capital cost certainty for deployment.

Alongside our cornerstone investor process, we are seeking participation from the public through Crowdcube and Republic Europe, opening the opportunity to be part of the transition from biogenic waste to fossil-competitive clean gas.

THE CHALLENGE

Decarbonising energy

While renewable electricity is scaling rapidly, around 80% of global energy demand still depends on molecules, not electrons. Today, only a small fraction of this molecular energy is decarbonised. Existing solutions such as electrolysis and anaerobic digestion are costly, inefficient or limited in scale, leaving industry, heat and gas infrastructure heavily reliant on fossil fuels.

Equisera was founded to address this gap, delivering a practical, scalable alternative to fossil gas using existing infrastructure.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Our solution

Equisera has developed RiPR (Rising Pressure Reformer), a patented, TRL6 technology that converts wet biogenic waste into clean gas using supercritical water. RiPR can be tuned to prioritise either hydrogen or biomethane production, while also generating captured carbon dioxide and biochar.

The result is a flexible, modular system capable of producing clean gas at or near fossil fuel prices, without reliance on the electricity grid and with the potential to be carbon-negative.

THE DIFFERENCE

Designed for scale, flexibility and cost

RiPR overcomes the limitations of incumbent technologies. It can process a wide range of biogenic and waste feedstocks with minimal pre-treatment, produces tar-free syngas, and can switch between hydrogen and biomethane depending on market need.

This flexibility enables deployment across multiple sectors, from agriculture and waste processing to industrial sites, unlocking local, distributed green gas production where it is needed most. RiPR’s hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide outputs also serve as feedstocks for alternative fuels such as bio-methanol, opening a route to decarbonising shipping alongside its other applications. Unlike electrolysis or anaerobic digestion, RiPR combines feedstock flexibility, dual-fuel output and carbon-negative potential in a single, modular system.

TRACTION & VALIDATION

Proven progress, strong partners

Equisera has successfully progressed through four prototype generations from TRL3 to TRL6, demonstrating both efficiency and scalability. The company has secured validation from industry and government, including partnerships with SUEZ and Wales & West Utilities, and early commercial interest through letters of intent.

To date, Equisera has raised over £9m in just four years and secured more than £1.4m in non-dilutive grant funding.

THE OUTPUTS

Commercial Potential

RiPR converts wet biogenic material into four high-value outputs – biomethane, hydrogen, captured carbon dioxide and biochar – each with its own established and growing market. We’re currently focusing on three core markets: maritime fuels, waste streams and industrial energy, each facing a different barrier to decarbonising.

This multi-product model creates several routes to profitability, reducing risk and increasing resilience for both Equisera and our customers. By delivering multiple revenue streams from a single process, RiPR offers a commercially compelling alternative to single-output clean energy technologies.

THE PATENT

Intellectual Property

Equisera owns the complete intellectual property for our RiPR technology. Our patent has been granted in the UK and allowed in Europe, with international filings pending in around 15 further jurisdictions, including the United States, Australia, Canada, India, South Korea and Japan.

GOING FORWARDS

Next steps

The next phase of our development is already underway. Our Macro pilot plant, supported by Innovate UK, goes live in 2026, enabling continuous testing, independent validation by CPI and large-scale feedstock trials.

Following Final Investment Decision targeted for end of 2027, we’ll begin construction of our first commercial demonstrator, targeted for commissioning in 2030 – rolling out systems from 1 MW to 25 MW at our Gloucestershire Meadow Mill campus to meet growing demand for reliable, carbon-negative energy across industrial, agricultural and waste-processing markets.

In parallel, RiPR’s hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide outputs create a pathway to supply key feedstocks for alternative fuels such as bio-methanol, supporting the decarbonisation of shipping – one of the hardest sectors to abate.
