Equisera is pleased to announce that it has retained Nick Simmons FCA to provide fractional Chief Financial Officer services. Nick brings more than 25 years of corporate finance expertise across venture-backed scale-ups, FTSE 100 groups, and international businesses. He will advise the executive team on capital architecture, corporate governance, and investor readiness as Equisera structures its upcoming funding rounds.
Nick’s background
Nick co-founded Naked Energy, a VC-backed cleantech business developing solar photovoltaic-thermal technology for sustainable heat, and served as its Chief Financial Officer for 12 years. He supported the company’s trajectory from initial concept to commercial deployment across the UK, Europe, and North America, raising over £30m in blended equity, debt, and grant funding.
Since 2024, he has operated an independent consultancy providing fractional CFO services to innovative climate-tech businesses across energy efficiency, generation and storage, as well as sustainable food and water related technologies. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), trained with Arthur Andersen in London and Geneva, and speaks fluent French and German.
James Milner, CEO of Equisera, said: “Nick has successfully navigated the exact scale-up path we are embarking on: guiding a deep-tech engineering business from early prototype to international commercial deployment. His expertise in structuring sophisticated capital rounds and embedding institutional governance will be invaluable as we scale our operations. We are delighted to partner with him.”
Nick Simmons said: “Equisera’s RiPR platform stands out because it offers an immediate, infrastructure-ready route to displacing conventional fossil fuels using biogenic waste streams. I am looking forward to collaborating with James and the board to refine the company’s techno-economic modelling, establish institutional-grade investment readiness, and ensure the optimal financial frameworks are in place to support this next phase of commercial growth.”
